I was lucky enough to attend a dinner the other night with an executive from Google, Ted Souder. He had some interesting comments about the role Google plays in the webiverse, and about what “is coming.”
According to Souder, for the first time in history, mobile web users have surpassed traditional computer web users. The web is being accessed by 240 million mobile browsers; and by 200 million PC browsers.
What does this mean for you? First, do you have at least a basic web presence, so that you can engage potential customers when they are trying to find a local apparel decorator? Second, how mobile-friendly is your webpage?
Do You Stand Out?
Another key point which stuck with me is how important LOCAL search is to users when they are looking for something. Much of the time, customers want to find a local source, even when their search begins online.
Your webpage has to support your “findability” on a local level.
In the land of google, they refer to a “zero moment of truth,” which is when a buyer makes a decision about what they are going to purchase BEFORE they ever set foot in a business. They make up their mind 100% from information they received online or from other sources rather than from their own opinions which they form in a store.
So, how do we make our webpages “engage” customers well enough to influence that zero moment of truth? Honestly, I do not yet know. But, here at NNEP, we are working with the idea, and will see what sorts of solutions we can design which may be helpful for apparel decorators.
Stay tuned, and feel free to toss in your suggestions!
